I agree with grsharath and the dance level was not that great.

Cachirulo is a wonderful example of a formal milonga. To get a good seat as a first-timer, you must arrive extremely early (between 9 and 10). It helps to make a reservation, too. If you call in a reservation for one person and also arrive before 10pm, you should get a comparatively excellent seat. Be prepared to use your cabeceo actively & clearly.
The crowd here is mixed with the majority on the older side, but also plenty of dancers under 35 having a great time, including myself. The level of dance is very high. Not many boleos or ganchos to be seen, but an abundance of comfortable embraces, dynamic turns, complex musicality, and deep, challenging connections.
The only negative is the slippery floor. Make sure to bring your suede or rubber-soled shoes!

Well.. i was here one night..and Never going back again... Its just not my type... I would also assume that if you are less than 35, you would not like this place unless of course, traditional milonguero is your style, then you will love this place... But then if you are new to the city, the organizer will make you sit at the back and since this is a cabeceo only place.. well you get what I am trying to say.. The floor at Obelisko is also very slippery.. atleast it was, on the night I was there and that did not help at all... Lot of the traditional tango enthusiasts love this milonga...So expect the average age to be on the higher side..
