Tango on an outdoors bandstand in a park in the leafy northern Buenos Aires neighborhood of Belgrano - a few stops on the D subway line from PLaza Italia in Palermo.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere, and very mixed crowd - between the old milongueros and the younger dancers who do more steps. Spend a while observing the dancers before plunging into the dance circuit because there are a few oddballs you might want to avoid - the ones who just sing to themselves the whole tanda, or push and pull you around.
Especially nice ambiance on a Sunday evening. Added plus: you can pay a visit to neighboring Chinatown!
Beautiful space to spend a Saturday afternoon - relaxed atmosphere, a different live band each week later on in the practica, sun streaming through the windows, and a younger crowd than many other tango events in BsAs. Healthy, inexpensive and fresh food and juices in the cafe downstairs, and tables to gather around and chat with tanguero friends if you feel like a break. And the tango school holds some classes in the afternoon with an "alternative tango" class after the practica teaching some fun moves for those with more modern taste in tango!
