Great festival.. Definitely a 4.5 star rating.. but i am gonna go ahead and make it 5.. very good teachers.. great venue.. The DJs are always top notch.. the "festival" to go to if you want to visit USA for tango.. but overall good level of dancing.. could get a little snobbish.. but that can happen anywhere.. There was a problem with the floors this year.. very slippery and very sticky on the first 2 nights but it was taken care of and i hope it does not happen again.. overall a really nice festival..

Great practica.. good dancers arrive only by 12... young crowd but really good dancers.. looks like the cool kids go there but I found this to be very friendly... definitely a must try event... go to salon canning after this..
DNI.. get there early to dance with DNI dancers,if DNI is your thing.. dancers from other schools with other styles get there by 5:30... level ranges from beginner to intermediate-advance, but good energy throughout.. they also usually play some nuevo stuff... definitely a good place to be on a saturday evening..
Well.. i was here one night..and Never going back again... Its just not my type... I would also assume that if you are less than 35, you would not like this place unless of course, traditional milonguero is your style, then you will love this place... But then if you are new to the city, the organizer will make you sit at the back and since this is a cabeceo only place.. well you get what I am trying to say.. The floor at Obelisko is also very slippery.. atleast it was, on the night I was there and that did not help at all... Lot of the traditional tango enthusiasts love this milonga...So expect the average age to be on the higher side..
La viruta is definitely where everyone who is awake at 3 AM go to from different milongas all across the city.. Very good energy even late into the night... Has a night-club feel to it... but the last tanda here, is something I would die for... so are the medialunas!!
Actually La Viruta is great for all nights on a weekend... late into the night after 3 AM.. Its free... and you can eat your medialunas and go back home with a smile even if you havent had a great night dancing... I would not suggest La viruta before 3... the level of dancing is mixed., so is the navigation.. so expect a mixed night if you are there before 3.. nevertheless, the best place to hang out with friends.. reserve a table to be sure to get a good table??
Definitely the best place to dance earlier on a Monday night. Run by Luciana valle of El motivo tango school.. its usually very friendly and a lot of the pros come here to dance and hang out.. they also have really good performances.. One of my favorites for sure.. crowd is almost the same as the Sunday night's Viva Pepa's milonga... People usually walk to salon canning after this.. Ends kinda early at 2 AM..so if you want to get in to Salon canning for free, hang out with the dancers outside till its time to walk to Canning for a free late night milonga...

Definitely the place to be on a Tuesday night after 3. Its free and a lot of dancers come in from other milongas and raise the energy. Before 3, it is sort of an older crowd. But it is still semi-formal. Salon canning is big and very well lit. So even if you dont get good tables, cabeceo is relatively easy.
Fruto-dulce on Wednesday nights at Villa Malcolm brings a very salon crowd. It is also kind of very formal. You need to reserve tables to get good tables. Otherwise they seat you behind everyone who has reserved tables. And that is pretty much the end of your night. Dancers also dress up for this event. So, if you want a casual place to dance, this is not it. Also, something i observed, is that people usually come here to dine with their friends and occasionally dance with people at their table or people they know. It is not a place where dancers take a chance and ask someone new, for a dance. But if salon, formal-young isn crowd and dining is your thing, then this is a great milonga.
Monday nights at Viruta are so-so. Salon Canning is the place to be esp after 3 since it is free.
Great milonga. Very informal. Lot of the cool kids come here. Almost everyone who goes to the El Motivo practica on Mondays turns up to this one too..Definitely the place to be atleast earlier on Sunday night. During the off season, people turn up by 11 PM.. So, if you new to the city, get there earlier so you can meet up with people and make friends.. there is also a class before the milonga.. Highly recommended
since class+milonga costs only 40 pesos... just the milonga is, I think 30 pesos..
