Of course you have to dance at La Viruta! Be aware of the late hours, and arrive when the entrada is free. La Viruta is great fun!
But, be careful of the hombres who do laps around the floor. I was groped at La Viruta. Not just a little slippage of the hands and some "swiping" of the thing between his legs, but a full on assault to my privates. He grabbed me as if I were a man with balls. (Be weary of the middle-aged, bald headed hombre who wears a suit and does laps.)
The DNI practica is very busy! The space feels a bit like outdoors, with its many levels and open staircases. The practica is full of locals and foreigners. There is always a performance at the practica, such as a dancing or an orchestra. The first time I went to DNI, I was so overwhelmed with happiness that I cried during the orchestra performance. One of the organizers saw me and gave me a hug! :) Very touching.
Note: you have to buzz the door to be let in....and yell "door" to be let out.
This is a very nice Friday afternoon practica with a mix of locals and foreigners. I felt very comfortable here. And, I felt comfortable practicing many tandas with one partner; it did not have the feeling of a milonga where partners change after every tanda.
Note: You have to buzz the door to be let in.
