Milongas in Buenos Aires and tango events around the world: reviews and listings of milongas, tango festivals and practicas

The High Season is Upon Us.

It’s that time of year again. It seems as if everyone arrive in Buenos Aires at the exact same time. TA few short weeks ago the milongas were struggling to maintain a crowd. Now it seems like everyone is in town and the floors are full until the end of the night.

This change signals the countdown to the Mundial de Tango which will be held from the 14th through the 27th of August. It is a great time of year to be in Buenos Aires. We are still in the middle of winter so it never gets so hot that you have to worry if your apartment will have air conditioning or access to a swimming pool. All the milongas are full and there always new people to dance with. Lots of maestros are in town so you can arrange lessons with almost anyone you have ever wanted to study under.

There is a lot to be said for high season and I am looking forward to it…. However it can also have it’s downsides we can talk about that next time…

As for you? How do you feel? Have you ever visited Buenos Aires during this time of year? How do you like it? Let us know in the comments below.
